Red White and Blue... and Pink!

Here is one of my most recent projects, it was inspired by a dress that I saw at H&M.  I used a blouse  as a pattern and just extended the length.  This is my first time making sleeves and I'm so excited that I didn't manage to mess that up :)  .... although the fabric is very form fitting and I did make it a little too short for my comfort level, so I mainly find myself wearing this as a shirt :(   ....  but that's O.K. I'm going to give this dress another try with a different type of fabric, stay tuned!

Este vestido es uno de mis proyectos mas recientes. Fue inspirado por un vestido que vi en H&M.  Use una blusa como patron y lo extendi a lo largo.  Esta es mi primera vez que hago mangas y estoy muy contenta con el resultado! ... aunque por otro lado,  la tela me queda muy entallada y el vestido salio mas corto de lo que esperaba asi que siempre me lo pongo como blusa :( , pero no importa hoy compre otro tipo de tela y planeo intentar hacer este vestido de nuevo...esten pendientes para la version numero dos! :)

Animal Print!

As soon as I saw this printed fabric I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for.  I never wear these shorts because I can't seem to find a top for them, brown is not an easy color to style!  Which I can't say I've searched everywhere, when it comes to shopping for clothes, I usually give up before I even step a foot in the store. That is one of the advantages of being able to make your own clothes and probably the reason why I like sewing so much: if you can't find what you're looking for, you can make it!

En cuanto vi esta tela supe exactamente lo que queria hacer con ella.  Ya tenia tiempo buscando blusas con que combinar estos shorts sin tener mucha suerte.  No se porque pero se me hace difícil combinar con ropa cafe aparte de la tipica blusa blanca.  Este es otro de los beneficios de poder hacer tu propia ropa y la razón por la que la costura me intriga tanto.  La verdad para mi, la mayoría de las veces ir de compras acaba siendo una batalla perdida, pero de esta manera si no encuentro lo que busco, tan si quiera lo puedo hacer.... o minimo intentar :-p

Exposed Zippers!

I made this blouse about a year ago using THIS YOUTUBE TUTORIAL .  My intention was to make a dress just like in the tutorial but my fabric was too sheer so I had to use some of it for lining.  I am still very pleased with the outcome;  I actually like it better this way.  I think this is a very neat idea, the blouse was so easy to make and very affordable.  I spent less than $6 to make this!

Hice esta blusa hace como un año usando ESTE TUTORIAL DE YOUTUBE. Mi intención era hacer un vestido igual que en el tutorial pero la tela era muy transparente y tuve que usar parte de esa misma tela para crear un fondo.  De todas maneras estoy muy satisfecha con los resultados... hasta me gusta mas así. Me encanta la idea de usar el cierre de esta manera y el proceso fue muy facil y economico. Gaste menos de $6 para hacer esta blusa!
